Aperture Desk Job - Core Animation

This project was a test to see if I could successfully recreate the style of animation used within the game Aperture Desk Job.

I began by modelling and rigging my own version of the robot used within the game. The robot (named Grady) has no mouth, meaning that all of their expression is shown through their eyelids and body rotation.

I then began with an excercise copying an existing animation from the game. This taught me about the usage of momentum with the character in order to show that they are a heavy robot.

After this, I took an interview with Grady’s voice actor, and animated the character to match the speech of the interview.
