Windmill, Windmill for the land

A dynamic cloud simulation based on the music video for “Feel Good Inc”.

The windmill and island were made using megascans assets in Maya. This geometry was then exported as a single FBX into Houdini, where I used convex decomposition to reduce the complexity of the mesh so as to speed up the simulation.

The clouds were made using a single procedural node tree in Houdini, meaning that I could produce multiple different clouds by adjusting the seed.

Once the interaction between the geometry and volume was simulated, the animated volume was exported as a VDB and rendered in Arnold with lighting and the textured geometry.
